Our History

Scarsdale Youth Hockey Association ('SYHA') was started in 1996. With the help of our high school coach, Jim Mancuso, and volunteer Scarsdale parents, we built a program that would allow boys and girls from Scarsdale to continue their hockey experience once the Recreation Department clinics ended.

A Board of Directors was formed in 1997 consisting of 9 volunteer board members and 4 Officers.

Our primary goal as an organization is to provide opportunities for co-ed children aged 6 - 18 in the Scarsdale and Greater Westchester County area to learn and play ice hockey in a safe, fun, and competitive environment. Our co-ed travel program plays in the Hudson Valley Hockey League.

SYHA is registered with USA Hockey (the coordinating body for amateur hockey in the country). All children playing for our organization are registered and insured by USA Hockey. SYHA is also registered with the Federal Government as a non-profit organization with a tax exempt I.D. number.
